Calendar Guidelines
Introduction:
The primary goal of the Illinois State University
Calendar is to provide a single Web site featuring
a comprehensive listing of information and events
taking place on and off campus. The University Calendar will
allow the campus community and anyone with WWW
access to this up-to-date information.
Use:
The University Calendar, which is a link off
the Illinois State University Web site, provides
detailed information concerning what, when, where
and who is sponsoring the events that are campus-related. The University Calendar will also list
meetings and seminars held on campus that are
sponsored by non-university affiliated organizations.
The University Calendar will be a useful resource
for event planners. Posting an event location
on the University Calendar will not reserve that
facility; the scheduling of facilities must still
be done through established University procedures.
Submittal:
University colleges, departments, offices and
registered student organizations are allowed to
submit information to the calendar. Authorized
personnel (referred to as authors) will have direct
access to submit information via authorization
codes.
Authors are responsible for the content and accuracy
of their submission. If inappropriate material
is posted, the University Calendar Coordinator
will contact the author and the Appropriate Use
Coordinator, discuss the problems, and ask that
the information be edited or removed. If the author
does not comply with this request, their submittal
privileges may be terminated. Postings cannot
include profanity, references to alcoholic beverages,
or material contrary to the mission of Illinois
State University. All internet posting must adhere
to Illinois State University’s Appropriate
Use Policy.
Events Appropriate For Inclusion on the University
Calendar:
The University community is encouraged to submit
campus-sponsored events to the University Calendar.
Off-campus events may be posted as long as they
are an official event of a campus organization.
Illinois State University scheduling offices can
enter information regarding off-campus groups
using Illinois State University facilities with
the consent of the sponsor.
Additional information about an event can be
supplied through URL links or e-mail addresses.
The University Calendar will not post departmental
and organizational reoccurring meetings, class
or computer lab schedules, and recreational sports
facility schedules at this time.
Adherence to University Web Guidelines and Policies:
The author is required to adhere to all University
policies, regulations, guidelines, and all local,
state and federal laws. Failure to comply with
these regulations may result in denial of future
use of the University Calendar and of University
facilities and services.
Removal of Account/Loss of Privileges:
If an author provides false or misleading information,
or does not adhere to University policies, the
University Calendar has the right to terminate
submittal privileges and refuse future use of
the University Calendar.
Registered Student Organizations:
Registered student organizations are permitted
to enter their events directly on-line.
A faculty advisor must approve the posted events
before they are placed on the calendar. Registered
student organizations are expected to comply with
any additional policies and regulations listed
in the Registered Student Organization's handbook
available at the Office of Student Life, 387 Student
Services Building.
The University may permit exceptions to these
guidelines and may develop additional guidelines
as appropriate.
Indemnity and Damages:
The University Calendar makes no guarantees,
either expressed or implied, concerning the accuracy,
completeness, or reliability of the information
stored here. Information provided by user home
pages or by links to other servers is not under
editorial control of the University Calendar/Conferencing
Unit and such information does not reflect official
information or opinions of Illinois State University.
What can I post?
Any event or activity sponsored by Illinois State
University or by a registered student organization
is eligible.
Off-campus events may be posted as long as they
are an official event of a campus organization.
Illinois State University scheduling offices can
enter information regarding off-campus groups
using Illinois State University facilities with
the consent of the sponsor.
Personal postings are not allowed. The calendar
will not post the following: regular departmental
and organization reoccurring meetings, class or
computer lab schedules, and recreational sports
facility schedules.
If an inappropriate event is posted, the University
Calendar Coordinator will contact the author and
the Appropriate Use Coordinator, discuss the problem
and ask that the information be edited or removed.
If the author does not comply with this request
their submittal privileges will be terminated.
